Project Home
On Saturday, April 2, members from teams 1639 and 1641 traveled to the Great Meadow launch site for qualification flights.
The day was cloudy with wind less than 5mph. We used our 7ft launch rail.
We conducted 5 flights.
Objectives
- Team 1639 has one more qualification flight possible.
- Team 1641 can do two more qualification flights.
- Given pending bad weather, we want to complete our flights before noon.
Lessons
- Both teams flew one test launch with modest results.
- We had no ignition issues, and all rockets were recovered.
- Team 1639 did their last qualification flight but was still low.
- Team 1641 had a great qualification flight with a score of 6.
- During the second Team 1641 qualification flight, the dowel that connected the two chutes broke in the middle, and the flight was declared a disqualification.
We ended the challenge with insufficient scores to be considered for the national finals, but all teams did complete the challenge and we learned lessons for next year.
