Project Home

On Saturday, December 12, members from teams 1639 and 1641.traveled to the Great Meadow launch site for test flights. The day was clear, warm, nice, almost no wind. We used the NOVAAR provided launch rails. We conducted 7 flights.

Objectives

  • Test flights of all our team rockets.
  • Refine our motor selection.
  • Get ready for qualification in January.

Lessons

  • The F44 still seems to be the motor of choice.
  • Still had some ignition issues.
  • We had no issues with eggs breaking or recovery of rockets.
  • The NOVAAR launch rails again may be a problem.  We should use our rails for qualification.

 Two-Stage Rocket

In October, we recovered parts of a two stage rocket we lost the previous year. We repaired the rocket and flew it again at this launch. It flew, the staging worked, and was fully recovered. We used a D12-0 and a D12-6 black powder motors. Here is a video.
