Explorer Post 1010
Lockheed Martin Exploring Program
Launch - April 5, 2009

Members of teams 7159 and 7158 traveled to the Virginia launch site again.  It was beautiful day, very little wind.  The day before we tried to launch (Saturday, April 4) but the launch site was closed down due to wind.  We completed all our qualification launches. Here is what it is like to check an egg.

Objectives

  • Final qualification launch of the Phoenix (team 7159) with F39-6T reloadable.
  • Qualification launches of the Kaboom (team 7158) with F52-5T reloadable.
  • Possible qualification launch with Old Glory (team 7158), if Kaboom has issues.

Lessons

  • We need to pay more attention to the chute size and possible warm thermals.
  •  Old Glory worked well.
  •  Better luck next year.
