Explorer Post 1010
Lockheed Martin Exploring Program
Launch April 5, 2008

Team 2 headed out one more time to qualify their V2. It was a nice day, clear, with some wind (about 10mph),  They had some nice launches, but lost their backup rocket.

Objectives:

  • Qualify Team 2 with scores under 20.
Lessons
  • You should not swap an E18-7W ejection charge into a E28-4T.
  • We should have practiced more with real eggs.
  • Ejecting the chute with a timer works, but is somewhat hard to control.  Apogee may be more reliable.  This is a lesson we can use next year.  Maybe an altimeter rather than a timer will improve the ejection altitude consistency.

Congratulations to Team 2 for completing a very difficult project.
