This was our big day - qualification flights.  We again traveled to the Great Meadows launch site in Virginia.  It was a warm day with winds mostly under 10mph.  We used the provided launch rods.  We set the angles between 5 and 10 degrees.  We had great scores.  All three teams may be heading to the National Fly Off.

Objectives:

• Get good TARC Qualification scores.
  • Team 2 - Rear Daddy V4 with F24-4 (two tests and two qualifications)
  • Team 1 - Executioner V2 with E18-4 (one test and two qualifications)
  • Team 3 - Fat Boy Design V2 with E9-6 (one test and two qualifications)
• Have two members work the reloads - one working, one watching.

Lessons:

• If you have a problem during a competition, always ask the judges for help. We had a problem with the Team 1 first qualification launch so they let us do it again.
• Bring towels when there are ponds around the launch area.
• The launch rod angles proved critical.  We watched the wind and flights that preceded ours -- making adjustments to correct for cocking into the wind.
• The F24 engines worked good on the Rear Daddy when we added 60 grams to the nose.
