During the three weeks leading up to the Botball workshop, the Post conducted two robotic learning sessions. We tried to use the old RCX Mindstorm processors and Legos to create a bot that goes to a pipe and knocks over a tube 12 inches on the other side, and then return. We used concurrent engineering where some people build the base, some built an arm, and some worked on the software -- all at the same time. The idea was to use an agreed upon interface to bring them all together.
It didn't work as well as we planned, but it did get our hands warmed up for Botball 2006.
