Following tournament on Saturday, we decided to have a meeting to review what happened and capture some lessons.

What we did good...

  1. We beat Wootton in head to head competition.
  2. Each team got Botguy once.
  3. Cheering and morale was up.
  4. Big trophy.
  5. Documentation.
  6. Learned about a new processor - XBC
  7. Able to compensate for board tolerances.
  8. Won $200 bucks for 4th place.
  9. Some robots went through enough repeated testing to operate consistently.

Where we need to improve...

  1. Recoding before the match.
  2. Having only 10 days to build a bot..
  3. Not using Spring Break to our advantage.
  4. Failure to get to testing phase.
  5. Procrastination
  6. Forgot to tape motor leads down.
  7. Lack of checklist
  8. Inaccurate board dimensions
  9. Protection of laptops in team pit area (no passwords).
  10. Bad code with no comments.
  11. No programmers.
  12. Low participation from those overseeing (leaders).

After some discussion, we decided to send at least one team to the National Robotics Conference in Jacksonville, FL, July 14-17.

Get Botguy in Jacksonville!
